Dear Friends,
Weather forecasters are telling us that Tropical Storm Emily will move across Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti) late today and tonight, with sustained winds around 50 miles per hour and heavy rainfall. Please keep all those affected in your prayers...including our sponsored children and their families, and everyone involved with Adonai School and Adonai Ministries. Our sponsored children, for the most part, are not in low lying or susceptible areas, so we are hopeful that all will be well with them. We also want to keep others in mind who are in the flood zones.
In addition, we have learned that Adonai has organized two special prayer days (today and tomorrow) in Mata Gorda, the area of a daughter church. Knowing that "the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much" (James 5:16), we ask for your prayers that the bad weather will not hinder their ability to hold these special meetings and that they will see much fruit from this endeavor.
Finally, Ellen flies to the DR this Friday to spend 2 weeks working on Adonai's electrical solution, participating in their 25th anniversary celebrations, speaking at their high school graduation, and attending camp for our sponsored children. Thankfully, Tropical Storm Emily is expected to be well beyond Hispaniola by Thursday, but there is much to be done, so please keep her in your prayers during her time there (August 5 – 19).
In Christ's name and for His glory,
Chris Doughty
