Dear friends:
I had a tremendous journey to the Dominican Republic last week. God made several divine appointments as we attempt to get permission from one of the 4 mayors of Santo Domingo to use some of their property for a professional Little League Ball field. We will need to grade the property, put in drainage, special soil for a good ball field, fence around the entire property, bases, pitcher’s mound, baselines, grass, irrigation, sink a well… But, the thousands of children in the area with no place to play is haunting to me. We hope to put it in the heart of an area that is full of gangs and drugs currently, and children who never smile. Our partner, Pastor Marino Mendez led a police officer to the Lord, along with his wife and 3 children just one year ago and this police officer will be running the program. He hopes to have 300 children in the first year the ball field is in existence. Already 140 are on the waiting list! This officer’s life has been transformed and he said a dozen times in our time with him what an honor this is for him to make a difference in the lives of children and youth for the Lord.
Pray for favor with the city, pray for donated services and materials, pray for the many dollars we will need for this powerful project!

I will be in India for the inauguration of our second theological school Aug 10-20. I will be checking on details for a spring trip next year with my board of directors and others.
